Word Of The Month: Change.

Prochaska (1994) has found that people who have successfully made positive change in their lives go through five specific stages: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance (Ceceliahealth, 2016)

Many people may be thinking about their life and what to do moving forward as we approach spring. You may be thinking of a change in career, trying something new or changing your lifestyle. For some people, change may be easy and a normal part of everyday life. However, for others change can be a daunting thing.

Fear and change go hand in hand, fear of the unknown can lead to inaction and inaction can lead to a lack of satisfaction within life. However, embracing change is what helps us grow. It is change that not only helps us bloom but maintain a sense of wonder and excitement in life. Accepting change and taking that leap to do what you always wanted to do along with the fear that goes with it, can lead you to being who you always wanted to be. It can also help you take that next step towards accomplishing your dreams. A leap you may have always regretted not taking. Change makes us strong.

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

The 20th March 2021 marks the beginning of Spring. Spring represents new beginnings. Flowers are beginning to blossom; trees are beginning to bloom and as the weather begins to warm, all types of critters, animals and insects begin to emerge ready to face the unknown of what lies ahead. My questions to you as we head into Spring are:

What changes in your life may be coming and what fears do you have about that?

Are you ready to make that change? And if not, what about it is holding you back?

You may feel you are unworthy and not good enough or that you may fail. However, by accepting change and taking that risk, you have already succeeded and are worthy for whatever good that change brings. Remember you are not alone in your fear and that even our little furry friends waking up from their deep slumber are cautious of the changed world around them before they jump right in and enjoy their time in the early Spring sun.

You deserve your success and your moment in the sun.
